“For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”
– Robert Louis Stevenson
It started with an interest in tiny homes, but that was more of a daydream than something I was serious about. Then I started watching videos of people who RV full time and it really piqued my interest. I’ve always had an interest in RVs but couldn’t see myself driving a big class A, or even a class C. Then I learned about the B+ (or small C) and thought that could be a possibility. Then I came across some YouTubers in class B vans and listening to them describe how easy they are to drive and how they can go places that the bigger rigs can’t really caught my attention. At this point the pandemic was in full gear and my company went 100% remote and was going to become a remote first company. So now I can work remotely and travel.
Now I started to really think about traveling in a class B van seriously and started to look at different ones online to see what would work best for me. My husband is supportive of my travels and even though he doesn’t come with me very often I still needed to find something that we could both be comfortable in. That’s when I discovered the Coachmen Beyond. It had the galley that I liked, a sleeping area that can convert to a near king-size bed if needed, and a bathroom that is a comfortable size.
I plan to use this site to document my travels and things I learn about RVing and hopefully it will be helpful to someone else who wants to get out there too.
About the name “Beyond the Fern”, my van’s name is Fern, after the main character from Nomadland. Beyond the Fern is a play on Fern the Beyond.
